Moulinsart Tintin A-Z

an alphabetic anthology of curiosities from Hergé's Adventures of Tintin, written by Michael Farr

One of the things that make it so pleasant to read The Adventures of Tintin is that Hergé succeded in weaving daily life and recognizable experiences into his stories: whether it is the wrong telephone number again and again or a persistent piece of plaster. And the characters that remind us of people that we might have come across before: the proverbial whine or know-it-all, sucha as Seraphin Lampion or the always charming Oliveira de Figueira. This is one of the reasons why the range is so attractive: it is realistic and relevant.

Tintin A-Z (an English language edition) is meant to be an anthology of less known or even completely unknown details and facts, so that we may see the extraordinary reporter from a different perspective. Ofcourse, this is done through an extremely subjective, random and personal view.

This work does not pretend to be a complete account, but I hope that it is informative and - even more important - entertaining. If it encourages the reader to re-read a specific story and enjoy it even more, my mission is succesful.

(Excerpt from the foreword by the author)

On the author: British born Michael Farr (*1953) knows the comic book range The Adventures of Tintin and the maker Hergé as no other. He published multiple books on the subject, such as the bestseller Dream and Reality and translated several works into English. In a previous life he was a reporter, first for Reuters and later for The Daily Telegraph, allowing him to travel the world as foreign correspondent.

After meeting Hergé he started to write books on Tintin. Michael Farr was the first to get access to all dossiers and materials that Hergé used to create the Tintin stories.
